Croatan is a beach community of predominantly single family homes in Virginia Beach, nestled next to the Atlantic Ocean just south of Rudee Inlet. The Croatan Civic League (CCL) works to improve the neighborhood, enhance the quality of life, help protect the environment and provide supplemental security services for residents and guests. We have several clubs including a Women's Club and a Book Club. The CCL publishes a monthly news letter and a neighborhood directory periodically to help us get to know our neighbors. We also sponsor periodic neighborhood events such as the CCL - Spring Fling, Neighborhood get- together's, a Halloween parade and acitivites for the children and a CCL annual dinner/meeting each fall. Well over 300 families and property owners support the Croatan Civic League. We invite all residents of Croatan to join us and support the efforts to preserve, protect and promote the interests of our very special community.

VIRGINIA BEACH — A state trooper was injured and police are looking for the driver they say hit her early Wednesday morning.
Shortly after 5 a.m., state police tried to stop a blue Dodge Charger for speeding on Interstate 264 east near Laskin Road in Virginia Beach. The driver was going 125 mph, according to a release.
The driver did not stop and the pursuit continued east on I-264 to the Birdneck Road exit.
After exiting the interstate, the driver turned onto Americus Way, a dead-end road. The trooper pulled up behind. The driver tried to leave, accelerating toward one side of the trooper’s vehicle, but could not pass. The trooper got out of her vehicle, according to police, and tried to engage the driver, who backed up and hit the trooper. The driver then drove to the other side of the trooper’s vehicle, heading toward Birdneck Road.
The trooper’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The car’s registration and license plate did not match the Charger, according to the release. State police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the driver and vehicle. The car is blue, missing the hood, has a loud exhaust and has a headlight out, according to the release.
Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 804-750-8788 or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
